Hello Potential Readers
Some may ask why make a website, why post about things when you could use social media or all these other platforms whose main goal is to connect people. Well, I am glad you asked, reader, out loud in the middle of the room where I assume you are while reading this. Personally I had a reverence to an old internet idea which people would create websites for their own personal purpose or as a form of expression. I think in the age of social media and restrictive algorithms made to be as obsessively addictive and time consuming there is a loss of that spirit. This is why I have pulled away from Meta owned platforms and wanna focus on my own garden of creativity. I think both the development of this website can achieve that by giving me a place to post my thoughts on media I love (specifically books and games), where I can show my art without the stress of worrying about chasing some magmatic idea which would get me likes or attentions. I will be also making prints for art on this page since the space feels more fitting. Lastly I have been working on a concept for a videogame and I think having a place to track and showcase the project when its farther along than just a design document and a dream would be preferable.
Sometimes a guy just wants to express himself.
I come up with three reasons about writing more are: 1. Personal practice, 2. A method to collect and clearly relay my thoughts about media I like, 3. Improve my memory through Post Mortem extrapolation. Back in school, I used to enjoy those group discussions in English class, specifically on literature and how it made us feel or changed the way we think. Everyone had a different opinion and something else that they brought with their own perception of the text. I won’t say I always felt this way, as some media I read in English class really didn’t speak to me (looking at you, Gatsby), and this did lead me to turn out some important lessons and stimulated the brain just right. I don’t think I am a great writer or anything and I think working a job where I only write in corporate speak really does take the fun an personality out of the way you write. I hope I can improve on that here. I also will do a sketch sometimes about the topic.
Lastly I hope I can inspire you odd souls out there to do more with the tools you have. You been working all your life for goals which strictly follow the survival method of getting money or security or love. The world moves fast and if you don’t take a second to let your brain pass all that information it’ll just weigh you down. This is the meaning I put behind this website but to use a quote used by a man who spent an obsessive amount of time getting to level 99 in Final Fantasy 7’s opening act. “The act has no meaning but through the time spent I give it meaning”.
Hope you enjoy reading, commenting and sharing in love for meaninglessness.
Thank you for being here!
